We know that connecting with your friends on the go is important.
That's why we're very excited to launch new features that let you easily connect with friends on any mobile handset and carrier. Now you can share what you're up to and where you are with any friend in your phone's contact list or AIM buddy list.
The new "What's Up" feature makes it easy to share your status message and location with friends via text message or IM. If you're headed out on a Friday night, you can send a message to all your friends letting them know you're "Out on the town". Loopt will automatically attach "@ Broadway and Kearny" to the message so your friends know where to meet you. We'll also include a link in the message so that your friends can see where you are on a map. If you've included a photo with the message, we'll attach that, too.
You can now label locations if you're at a specific place. Eating at a new restaurant? Label it so that your friends know exactly where you are. Once you've labeled a place, we save it for you and suggest it the next time you're in the neighborhood.
