Get Tips With Your Loopt BlackBerry Update

The Loopt BlackBerry update is out, get it now!

Loopt is a great source for local content; you can peruse detailed information from Zagat, Citysearch, and other content partners. But this update goes one step further: the new Loopt for BlackBerry now has Tips – a way for you to show off your expertise on your favorite places with the greater Loopt community.

Adding a Tip is really easy, just go to the Discover tab and select the place that you want to leave a Tip for. In the middle of this place screen is a blue speech bubble icon. Select it and you can type in your Tip - anything from commenting on dishes to service to decor goes. Make sure to select to share it on Twitter and then tap “Add Tip” to show off your local knowledge. Download the update now!

Curious where your friends are? Find them even faster on this latest version of Loopt! This update lets you launch Loopt directly from your BlackBerry’s contact list. If their location isn’t fresh, send them a ping: Loopt is the easiest way to figure out where your friends are!

Here’s what else is new:

• The Map is now its own tab, making it even easier to see where your friends are!
• Search can now be found in the Discover tab,
• General performance enhancements.

This latest update of Loopt for BlackBerry is available to U.S. users on the BlackBerry Curve 8520, 8530, 8900, BlackBerry Bold 9000, 9700, BlackBerry Tour 9630 and BlackBerry Storm 9530 & 9550. Loopt for BlackBerry Bold 9700 and Curve 8520/8530

Last month, we launched a brand new version of Loopt for BlackBerry. Lots of people liked the new update – some even suggested it was better than our iPhone app. But, one thing we heard over and over again: “I want it, too!”

We’re excited to announce the new Loopt is now available on even more BlackBerry smartphones, including the BlackBerry Bold 9700, as well as the BlackBerry Curve 8520 & 8530. Get the new Loopt for your BlackBerry right now!

Loopt is Now Playing on the Sprint Instinct

   

Loopt is now available for free on the Sprint Instinct family of phones by texting “GET” to 56678 (LOOPT). Features on the Sprint Instinct’s enhanced version of Loopt include integrated touch-screen controls for exploring interactive maps, the ability to view your friends’ latest updates and receive alerts when they’re nearby, and Facebook Connect to easily post status updates to Facebook® with photos and locations – all leveraging the Loopt Location Platform for always-on location.

You may have noticed that two new phones popped up on our supported phones list (http://www.loopt.com/phones) last week. For those of you who missed it…

Loopt Beta for Select AT&T Phones

 

Are you an AT&T subscriber who owns a Motorola V9x, Motorola Z9n, or Nokia 6650?  Yes?  Sweet, we want your feedback.

We’re continuing to make Loopt available across all major carriers and devices and, to help test-drive Loopt before we roll it out to more AT&T customers next year, we are releasing a beta version on these select AT&T phones.  Get Loopt (at no cost) on these phones by registering at www.loopt.com.  Find out more at http://www.wireless.att.com/source/connect/loopt/.

G1 Users, Loopt has Arrived!

Loopt on the Android has just been released!  If you're on your T-Mobile G1, just visit www.loopt.com on your phone and click the link to the Android Market to download Loopt now. 
 
There are four tabs to explore – Map, List, Share, Settings.  On the Map tab, you can view where your friends are located on a map.  There’s a slick photo-index scroll bar at the bottom of this screen where you can click on your friend’s picture to center the map around their location.  You even have the ability to view traffic delays on the same map by hitting the Menu button to switch between different map modes.  Now you can see why your friends are so late for your lunch date.

 

The List tab provides you with a list of your friends sorted by name or distance.  Clicking on a friend allows you to view their recent updates and photos.  Go to the Share tab to share what’s up with your friends. This is where you can attach a photo of that delicious lunch special you’ve already started eating to make your tardy friends hungry.

    

Be sure to check out the Settings tab where you can easily control the various features of your Loopt application, from Location Refresh to Text Message Alerts.  Under Location Refresh, you’ll find the feature our developers are most excited about: background location updating.  This means you don’t have to keep opening up Loopt to refresh your location – your friends can automatically see your location updates every ~15-20 minutes!  Because of this, you can set up your Friend Alerts to have Loopt notify you when your extra-special friends are close by.  Don’t forget to put up your photo under My Loopt so that your extra-special friends can see your beautiful face.
